A walk-off homer, a big ninth-inning rally and two double digit runs totals were the highlights of a 5-1 day for the farm affiliates.

Syracuse 3 @ Rochester 1

The Chiefs scored 3 in the third inning and Josh Banks made it stand up. David Corrente was plunked leading off the inning, and Wayne Lydon followed with a single. After an Adam Lind strikeout, Hector Luna walked and Chad Mottola delivered two runs with a single. John-ford Griffin capped the inning with a sacrifice fly. Banks went 7 innings and allowed 6 hits including a solo homer, while walking and striking out two. Matt Roney finished up. Mottola and Luna had two hits apiece, while Lind wore the golden sombrero.

New Britain 0 @ New Hampshire 12

Sergio Santos supplied the muscle and Ty Taubenheim the finesse as the Fisher Cats whitewashed the Rock Cats. Santos homered twice and doubled, scored 4 runs and drove in 3. Taubenheim threw a 2-hitter over 8 innings, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Jo Matumoto cleaned up in the ninth. David Smith continued his hot hitting with two more doubles, as he reached base 3 times in 5 tries.

Dunedin 11 @ Fort Myers 6

The Jays rapped out 14 hits en route to an easy win, completing the trifecta over the Twins triple A, double A and high A affiliates. Dunedin broke out to a 7-2 lead, as they scored in each of the first 4 innings. They put the game away with 3 runs in the top of the eighth. Kyle Phillips led the charge with 3 doubles and 3 ribbies. Eric Nielsen had 3 hits and scored thrice, while Yuber Rodriguez added a solo homer in the ninth. Brandon Magee went 7 innings, and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk, while blowing away two Miracles. Paul Phillips was touched for 4 less than meaningful runs in the bottom of the eighth, and Billy Carnline did the job without style in the ninth.

Lansing 3 @ South Bend 6

Reidier Gonzalez was given an early 1-0 lead, but was touched for 3 runs in each of the first and second innings as the Lugnuts fell to the Silver Hawks. Luggie leadoff hitter shortstop Jonathan Diaz reached base in all 5 of his plate appearances. His seasonal batting line of .232/.383/.307 sounds familiar, like something a carnival barker might call out. Travis Snider went 0-4, but drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Canadian Chris Emanuele had two hits and drove in 2. Gonzalez gave up 6 hits and walked 3 in 4 innings of work.

Auburn 8 @ Mahoning Valley 7, 12 innings

The Scrappers and Doubledays hooked up in a wild one which would have made Abner proud. Auburn trailed 6-2 entering the ninth inning. With one out, Ben Zeskind hit a 2 run homer cutting the deficit to two. Adam Calderone reached on an error, Darin Mastroianni grounded out and Manny Rodriguez reached on a pop to third base to set the stage for Brad Emaus' 3 run rip. Alas, Cody Crowell gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extras. In the top of the 12th, Calderone singled but then was caught stealing. Mastroianni walked and took third on Victor Santana's single. Emaus hit a ground ball to third. The Scrappers tried to turn two, but Emaus reached as Mastroianni scored the game-winner. Nathan Melek pitched 2 scoreless innings of 1-hit ball for the win. Luis Perez started and went 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs. Calderone had 4 hits and Zeskind 3 at the top of the order.

GCL Phillies 4 @ GCL Jays 6

John Tolisano hit a walk-off 2 run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win. Outfielders Yohermyn Chavez and Jonathan del Campo drove the offence until Tolisano's blast. Chavez homered and doubled and drove in two, while Del Campo, homered, walked, singled twice and score 3 times. Brian Letko continued his fine pitching with 4 shutout innings, allowing 4 hits while walking nobody and striking out 5.

Adam Lind is 3-3 in the Chiefs second game with a double, triple and home run.  He needs a single for the cycle.  The Chiefs are winning the game 7-1 in the sixth and Lind might not get a fourth at-bat.  He is due up fifth in the sixth inning and if the Chiefs keep their lead they won't hit in the seventh as it is game two of a doubleheader.
