The affiliates took three of four on Saturday with strong performances by top prospects sprinkled throughout.

Las Vegas 9    Salt Lake 0

Doubles were the order of the day in Utah as the 51s racked up six of them. Travis D'Arnaud and Adam Lind each had one amongst their two hits. Lind drove in a run while D'Arnaud plated two. Anthony Gose was 2-for-4 with a walk and his 18th stolen base. Adeiny Hechavarria took the only 0-fer on the day going hitless in five trips with two strikeouts and an error.

Scott Richmond pitched effectively going eight strong and allowing just three hits and two walks, against four strikeouts.

New Hampshire 8    Binghamton 2

Homeruns from Ryan Goins, Brad McElroy, and Mike McDade accounted for seven of the eight Fisher Cat runs. Goins managed three hits in all and is now sporting a 339/377/475 line in his first go-around at AA.

Brett Cecil followed up last week's no-hit effort with another solid showing. Cecil went seven allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks. He struck out four.

Brevard County 3    Dunedin 4

Asher Wojciechowski has had a rough go of it this year. But for one day he certainly put it all together going six strong frames allowing a run on four hits. He didn't walk anyone and struck out eight.

Marcus Knecht was 1-for-4 with his 8th homer while Gabe Jacobo went 2-for4 with a double and the game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth.

Lake County 4    Lansing 3

Who would have thought that Lansing, on Aaron Sanchez day, would be the only affiliates to come out on the losing end? Sanchez started and went his customary three innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits and two walks. He struck out three. Justin Nicolino followed and was masterful going four shutout frames allowing three hits and a walk against five strikeouts. Unfortunately Brandon Berl couldn't hold the line and allowed two runs in the 8th.

At the plate Carlos Perez, Chris Hawkins, Andrew Burns, and K.C. Hobson all had two hits including a double. Burns added a triple to his day and is up to 289/376/577 on the season.

Three Stars:

3rd Star: Anthony Gose
- 2-for-4, BB, SB
2nd Star: Justin Nicolino- 4 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
1st Star: Asher Wojciechowski- 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K

Andy Burns' season is pretty exciting considering he supposedly plays an ok shortstop. If he keeps hitting like this, he'll be promoted to Dunedin where he's age appropriate.

Just put this in the other thread, but it belongs here:

With Cecil and Farquhar pitching last night it looks like either Chavez or Beck will be the obvious call-up today. Maybe if Igarashi gets DFA'd they only need to call up Chavez, since he's capable of 5+ innings.

Chris Hawkins is another Lansing hitter that is hot. He has six straight multi-hit games.

You called it, tstaddon - actually, both Chavez and Beck have been called up with Gomes and Iragushi being sent down.

Someone commented about the red-eye from Las Vegas for the new guys.  No need for a red-eye, as it is only 2 hours flight from Salt Lake to DFW with one hour lost from mountain to central time.  Hopefully the call went out early enough that the call-ups arrived in DFW at a good hour.

Just noticed Vlad is DH'ing in Dunedin. 0 for 2 with a K vs Taylor Jungmann so far.

Vlad homered, and the beat goes on for Las Vegas.  Gose singles, steals a base and comes on to score on a Lind ground out in the first and then walks, steals a base and is chauffeured home on a d'Arnaud home run in the third.

Re:  Osman Gutierrez.

I asked someone about his release and he told me that he spoke to someone in the organization who would definitely know, and was told that he was NOT released.

Re: Osman Gutierrez. Would like to see him on a roster or something official. Do appreciate this though. Thanks!

Milb DSL transactions still list him as released, it also doesn't have a personal page to pull up. DSL starts this Sat. (June2) so a roster should be up by then.
