Buffalo and New Hampshire fell behind early but both won. Orelvis Martinez and Adam Kloffenstein had big games for the Fisher Cats. Vancouver also fell behind early but in their case no comeback was forthcoming. The FCL Jays also lost while the rains fell on Dunedin.

Rochester 9 Buffalo 10 - 10 innings

Portland 3 New Hampshire 5

Vancouver 2 Spokane 11

Fort Myers at Dunedin - suspended

FCL Tigers 3 FCL Blue Jays 0

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

The Bisons were outhit 14-6 but 10 walks helped them score ten. Ex Jay Patrick Murphy walked three in the tenth to force in the winning run. A couple other ex-Jays were in the lineup. Josh Palacios is hitting .300 with an .839 OPS and Riley Adams is hitting .240 with an .801 OPS.

Thomas Hatch had a rough game and the Bisons were down 6-0 in the fourth. But Nate Lukes doubled in two runs and Chavez Young and Tanner Morris added RBI singles to make it 6-5. after Rochester made it 8-5, Gabriel Moreno singled in two in the seventh, followed by a run scoring wild pitch to tie the game. Jordan Groshans then singled in Moreno to give Buffalo the lead. Rochester tied it in the ninth leading to the walk off walk in the tenth.

Buffalo had six hits, five of those hits delivered an RBI.

New Hampshire came back from a 3-0 deficit to win. Adam Kloffenstein had a bad second inning, four hits allowed including a three run home run. Other than that he was super, one other hit allowed and he picked up ten K's in his five innings. The ten K's was a season high. Andrew Bash added four shutout innings.

Orelvis Martinez had a three hit night and scored the first two runs. He singled and scored in the second and homered in the fourth. It was his 20th of the season. Ryan Gold and Addison Barger added solo shots.

Jimmy Robbins had a night to forget, he gave up six runs in three innings. Naswell Paulino followed and wasn't much better.

The C's two runs came through two solo home runs. Catcher Andres Sosa had one of them, one of his three hits. PK Morris had the other home run.

Yosver Zulueta pitching in relief today.

I wonder if its (a) innings management; (b) getting him some game time after he returned from the Futures Game; or (c) getting him ready for a major league bullpen role. Or some combination of the above.

Horwitz played second base for the Herd today. The club threw a shutout, and Horwitz had a couple of singles.

I saw Scott Mitchell writing that Jays plan to call Zulueta up which makes sense. He could be a difference maker in the bullpen with his stuff and Jays need another hard thrower there.

I like the way the Jays have been promoting prospects. Tiedemann, Castillo, Barger, T Morris and S Horwitz among others.

I was unsure about Kloffenstein, Palmer to NH and now Juenger to Buffalo because they seemed to be struggling. Kloffenstein and Palmer are not worse, so it seems a success.

I will have faith in Zulueta if promoted to the Jays. That would have to be the biggest jump of any prospect this year.

The Jays released Joe Biagini to make room for Vinny Nittoli.
