NOTES

Mitch White started for Buffalo and was charged with one run over four innings. It wasn't a great start though, seven hits and a walk made for a WHIP of 2.0. Luke Bard, who has started this season, closed with a 3 up, 3 down, save.

Rafael Lantigua hit a two run home run, Davis Schneider a solo shot.

In New Hampshire Damiano Palmegiani got off to a fast start but has stalled a bit recently. He had two hits on Sunday to raise his average to .240. Leo Jimenez continues to pick up a hit in most games. He had one hit and is hitting .267. Steward Berroa was the number 9 hitter. He walked twice and hit a three run home run in the eighth to seal the win.

Jimmy Burnette pitched an inning and two thirds with three K's. He has 18 K's in 9.2 innings. He could be a Tim Mayza replacement next year.

For Vancouver Rainer Nunez and Gabriel Martinez each had two hits. Both of their bats are heating up, Nunez is now hitting .277 and Martinez .296. The C's bullpen has been good especially TJ Brock and Mason Fluharty. Fluharty, who was drafted last year, is another lefty for the future, like Burnette. He has a WHIP of 0.58, and 15 strikeouts in 10.1 innings.

Peyton Williams for Dunedin was 3-4 with four RBI. Manuel Beltre was 2-5 and his average is .314.

CJ Van Eyk started for Dunedin, his first start in over a year. He went three innings, two walks, one K, no runs. Coming back from TJ is a process.

I'm going to take a page from the poster who was a Jason Leblebijian fan years back. Just as Leblebijian was a non-prospect who held his own as he slowly climbed the minor league ladder to AAA, Rafael Lantigua has done the same.

Lantigua is almost 26. An IFA, he signed at 18 and after a season in the DSL came stateside at 20. His batting line at each level has ranged from mediocre to somewhat good. At 5'7"/153, he's built like a skinnier Jose Altuve.

He doesn't seem to have any tools beyond versatility and stick-to-itiveness. Doubt he ever makes the majors, but I figured he deserves at least a moment in the Batters Box spotlight.

I expect some promotions by the end of May. Lets see how Chad Dallas and Trenton Wallace are doing. Also TJ Brock and Connor Cooke.

Orelvis batting. 2 on with 1st base empty and 2 outs. He got nothing to hit so walked to load the bases.

One AA sleeper who is off to an excellent start is their switch-hitting CF Steward Berroa. .275/.400/.493. He has one legit tool in his speed, and he has regularly posted very good OBP's. Only 9 of 12 in SB's so far, but he's stolen 105 bases the past 2 seasons.

Two additional comments on Berroa - his strike zone control is his additional superior skill (he's a tough out and has an excellent eye); he comes from the Tapia/Hernandez/Zeke tree of OFs in that he looks toolsy/athletic and capable as a defender, but really isn't that good.

The MRI on Tiedemann confirmed bicep tendonitis. He is described as week to week.
