NOTES

Paxton Schultz had been pitching well for Buffalo but he was hit in this game, five runs allowed in 5.1 innings. Luis quinones was worse.

A couple of power-shy guys homered, Otto Lopez hit his second of the season and Spencer Horwitz his third. Cam Eden had two hits. He has had six multi hit games in the seven games he has played in July.

New Hampshire had a 6-0 lead heading to the bottom of the eighth. Troy Watson and Connor Cooke combined to give up six runs and tie the game. That sent the game to the tenth where pitcher Juan Nunez throw away a bunt which le the winning run score. It truly wa sa bullpen blown game.

Damiano Palmegiani hit his tenth home run, Will Robertson his ninth. Orelvis hasn't played in a couple of days but hasn't gone on the IL.

Vancouver scored twice in the top of the ninth to get their win. Lyle Lin homered with one out before Hillsboro walked in a second run. Earlier Devonte Brown had homered for the second night in a row.

Three pitchers went three innings each. The winning pitcher was Eric Pardinho who threw the last three and only conceded one run.

It was a bullpen game in Dunedin and that didn't go too well. Four of the five pitchers used by the Jays gave up runs including Irv Carter coming out of the bullpen. The Jays did have 12 hits but were outhomered 3-0.

Is Josh Kasevich hurt? Haven't seen him in the Vancouver lineup for a bit.

Ryu is starting for Dunedin today. Its a getaway day for minor leaguers too and so far it looks like it. No K's for Ryu through two because the Yankees are swinging. He has needed just 13 pitches for two innings.

Kasevich is on the 7 day IL.

Cam Eden is one of the few Jays prospects that has a clear defensive home. If only he didn't K so much with no power.

Last night was also the Futures Game and I see why it may have been best left unmentioned.

Sem Robberse came in with the AL down 2-0. His only out was a K, but gave up 2 hits. Zulueta came on to get 2 outs, which he did with 2 K's, but not before hitting a batter and giving up a bases clearing double.

Keith Law today said that it looked like Sem was over throwing, looking for some extra velocity.

Four innings for Ryu, 37 pitches and thats it for him.

I have to admit that I never saw anything particularly interesting about Robberse in Vancouver. He had excelled command and control of a SL but it wasn’t a particularly good one. Not a lot of A ball pitchers have that kind of control of a breaking pitch so I guess that’s something. His velocity was modest as well. Now, reports of an uptick in velocity would make him marginally more in interesting I guess. I feel like I’ve missed something there because Law has been a fan and he’s no dummy.

Is Orelvis injured?

Is Josh Kasevich hurt?

Kasevich pulled up lame running to first base after an at-bat in Eugene two weeks ago. He's still with the club and I have seen him doing infield drills. The speculation is the brass won't push him to return quickly with the C's having clinched a playoff berth. Just a guess on my part but I think he'll be back right after the All-Star break.

In other roster notes, righty Dahian Santos was supposed to start for the C's on Saturday but was placed on the seven-day injured list. Abdiel Mendoza got the start instead.

Also, lefty Naswell Paulino has been promoted to New Hampshire.

Addison Barger is 3-3 with a homer and a double tonight.  He may have his groove back and be ready to contribute at the major league level soon.  Davis Schneider also has a double and a triple for Buffalo.
