Notes
RBI doubles by Sean Keys and Charles McAdoo and a home run by Willie MacIver in the 10th inning helped the Herd hang on for victory. Jay Harry homered, doubled and singled to produce four RBI on the night. Je’Von Ward and Carlos Mendoza also went deep as every Buffalo hitter had at least one hit. Mendoza and Jonatan Clase had two-hit nights. Richard Gallardo limited the damage to two runs on two hits, including a homer, and four walks over four walks while striking out two. Adam Macko pitched a shutout fifth but allowed a hit for an inherited runner to score. CJ Van Eyk struck out a pair but blew the save after walking four and giving up a hit in ⅔ of an inning, resulting in five runs. Chase Lee got the win. Matt Bowman stranded two runners and retired all three hitters he faced for the save.
Victor Arias homered in the sixth and doubled home two more runs in the ninth to drive the FC offence. Nick Goodwin singled home Arias for the other run. Arias had two doubles with his dinger while Goodwin and Jorge Burgos had two-hit games. Cade Doughty singled and walked and Aaron Parker had a base knock. Hedbert Perez drew a walk but his biggest contribution came when he started a 7-5-2 play to cut down a runner at home to end the fourth for Jackson Wentworth, who scattered three hits and three walks and struck out five over six shutout innings for the win. Of his nine outs in play, eight were on the dirt. Geison Urbaez, Yondrei Rojas and Javen Coleman all pitched shutout stanzas with the latter two recording a strikeout.
A David Guzman grand slam capped off a five-run fourth inning for the F-Jays. The only other hit came from Edgardo Villegas after recently joining the Blue Jays organizations as a free agent signing from Trois Rivières Aigles of the Frontier League. Pascual Archila walked twice and stole a base. Seojun Moon allowed one run over 3⅔ innings on three hits and a walk while striking out six. Austin Marozas stranded both of Moon’s runners and tossed 4⅓ innings of no-hit ball, walking two and whiffing four to get the win. Noah Palmese pitched a one-hit ninth with a punchout.
Alexis Hernández went deep twice as part of a three-hit night and drove in five runs. Peyton Williams also homered and singled and JR Freethy doubled to highlight their two-hit games. Sam Shaw singled, walked twice and stole a base but was picked off at third base. Jake Casey singled but was also caught stealing. Eric Snow singled and walked but was also nailed on the basepaths. Tucker Toman went 0-for-4. Nolan Perry is struggling to find his early season form. He got the loss after giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over three innings to go along with four strikeouts. Jack Eshleman also coughed up three runs in three innings and Reece Wissinger had an unearned run allowed in his two innings.
Adam Hackenberg drove in Dunedin’s lone run with a single. Blaine Bullard, Juan Sánchez and JoJo Parker all singled with Parker stealing his 19th base of the year. Jake Cook drew a walk as did Giaconino Lasaracina in his Florida State League debut. Carson Messina gave up no hits, walked one and struck out five over four innings. Unfortunately, that walk came around the bases on a stolen base which Lenyn Sosa compounded with a throwing error at second. A sacrifice fly would bring the run home. Denis Samudio got the loss after giving up two runs over 3⅓ innings but struck out five. Josbel Garcia got the final four outs without giving up a run.
The DSL Blue team saw one go horribly awry in the late innings. Jose Andrades opened with three innings of one-run ball on three hits and three walks with no punchouts. Sebastian Casanova and Juan Caricote had two hits apiece and Michael Mesa walked twice.
The DSL Red squad was limited to an Alex LInares walk and a José Goro base hit. Alieski Torres opened with two shuout frames with one strikeout. Adrian Moreta had a shutout inning and Fayon Dumorne had two goose eggs with two whiffs. Juan Ramirez took the loss after giving up an unearned run in the seventh due to his own error.
