The farm went 2-2, and the highlights included Eric Thames continuing his hot streak, Nestor Molina continuing to be the best pitcher in Dunedin, and a certain Torontonian having a big day.

While watching tonight's game, I couldn't help but feel that the Jays are trying to win games with one hand tied behind their collective backs. They just aren't very good and there are a number of players who are in roles they can't handle. I welcome readers to give their own opinions/gripes, here are mine ...

I was in Lansing from May 1st to 3rd watching the Lugnuts play against the Lake County Captains.  Lugnut Fan was there too for two of the games.  I have descibed what I saw below.  In summary Drew Hutchison looked very good, Sean Nolin also looked good.  Jake Marisnick looked like a five toool prospect, he had six hits in three games and ran and fielded well. Carlos Perez was his usual line drive self.  Most of the other hitters didn't stand out.

I apologize for the brevity of this report, but it's Mother's Day and my wife is celebrating her first ever special day. The affiliates had a good day with three wins in four tries.

Three of the bigger pitching prospects on the farm, Zach Stewart, Asher Wojciechowski and Drew Hutchinson, were in action last night. Unfortunately, none of them picked up victories and their results ranged from mediocre to forgettable.

Justin Verlander threw a no-hitter against the Blue Jays this afternoon. He was perfect aside from a well-earned walk by JP Arencibia in the 8th inning on a 12-pitch walk. Arencibia was erased on a double-play by Encarnacion. Verlander only struck four batters all game, but he punctuated the performance by striking out Rajai Davis for the final out of the game.

A 3-0 night on the farm - how many times do we get to say that? And no, Las Vegas wasn't rained out. I know, right!

Adam Lind went 4-4 as the Jays won against the Rays.  The rubber match is a day game today, at 1:10.

Lind is on fire at the moment, he is hitting over .500 on the road trip and he has moved his batting average over .300.  The Jays need him because Jose Bautista is out until the weekend and no-one else on the team is "hot".  Consider:

Juan Rivera did have a hit last night but his batting average is .215.

The affiliates enjoyed a 3-1 night on the farm that featured steely resolve and a walk-off win so no one lost wages here.

We need an exorcism. I don't know what it is about that stupid arena, but the Jays are now 6-19 there against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Or as the headline on ESPN.com put it ... "Liriano-no."

Poor Edwin Jackson -- eight innings of six-hit ball against the Twins, but one of those hits was a fourth-inning solo homer by the Twins' Jason Kubel, and Jackson's Pale Hose mates tarried nary a single base knock against the mighty (for one night anyway) Twins. (How's that for 1920-era game reporting?) ...

Yes, Francisco Liriano may have walked six Sox, and needed 123 pitches (only 66 of which were strikes) to complete his start, but with it, he authors the first no-hitter ofthe 2011 season.

Discuss this 1-0 "masterpiece" herein ....

(P.S. Offense is down across MLB ... I put the '11 no-hitter over/under at 3.5 ... and I'll take the over! Your thoughts?)

Sorry about the lack of a daily thread today - I was busy last night drinking my election sorrows away. How about a game thread instead?

Halfway to Joe D.
Okay, twenty-eight is when it may be worth starting to pay attention.

That's the length of Andre Ethier's current hitting streak, and exactly half as long as the legendary Joe D'iMaggio's streak back in '41. It's already the second-longest streak in the illustrious history of the Brooklyn/LA Dodgers. (Quick, a thousand cuttlefish says you can't name who's first, at 31, without looking it up).

So Bauxites, how far does Andre's streak extend?
