Great AAA debut for Rzepczynski.  It reminds me of Dane Johnson's comment froma  few weeks ago where he felt that Zep was at least as good as Cecil.  It's good to know we have reserves for our reserves.

Seconded.  It should be noted that Tacoma is a fine hitting club, with Johjima and Clement hitting 3-4 in the lineup.

What are the plans for Michael Barrett.

Think the jays prefer a chavez / barajas tandem and Barret is just fulfilling Chavez's previously held role in Vegas?

From an espn chat yesterday with BA

Josh (New York)

What's wrong with JP Arencibia?

Ben Badler

He's pretty much the same guy as he was last year: a power-hitting catcher without a great approach at the plate, and it looks like that lack of plate discipline might be catching up to him this year.

For those who worry about pitch counts and young pitchers, it seems that first-round pick Chad Jenkins has had an unusually low load for a college starter.

FOUR things -

1)  Marc Rzepczynski has just been named BA's "Prospect of the Day."
2) Just think I'm gonna be happy learning how to memorize/spell Marc's last name!
3) Wouldn't it be GREAT IF Marc has an easy to spell nickname! and

4) Juan Hernandez, 6'  0", 178 pounds, he's 21 - turns 22 Oct 25th, he started in 2005 in the KC DSL team he was injured and didn't play in 2006. In 2007 and 2008 he played in the DSL for Toronto's team there. His DSL totals are:  17 wins 9 losses, his era was 2.63, 202 IP, 166 hits, 51 BB, 219 SO, opponents hit just .219 off him. Kid could be a keeper - just what we needed another really good starting pitcher - however he's a bit old for the GCL.

"3) Wouldn't it be GREAT IF Marc has an easy to spell nickname!"

Personally I enjoy referring to him as Lead Zep.  (Lead as in heavy like the way he throws a ball)

"Zep" shouldn't be too hard to say or spell.  For those of a certain age, visions of Plant/Page et. al will come quickly.

I guess I owe a Canada Dry.

Kenny Wilson is playing in the GCL today.  1-1 with a double and a walk.

Also playing is Garis Pena, an 18 year old signed for $300,000 last year.

What's up with Travis?  I really miss him.   Does anybody know just what's wrong, and what the prognosis is?   I mean this is a guy who profiles good, who projects good, who predicts good.  He might even be good.  I'm hoping so.  And soon.  "Sore backs" are for old guys like me,  not guys his age.  I don't much like the sound of that.  Every at-bat with Travis up, you expected something good.  Hell, even when he swung and missed it was nice to watch.

It was a lot of fun to watch Snider, and it was obvious to me that he put in a lot of work on the defensive end of his game.  I hope that he's back soon, whatever is wrong.

There was a report that Snider took batting practice a couple days ago and is well on his way to returning to the Vegas lineup.

From Baseball America:

Venezuelan catcher Santiago Nesi is a catcher from Venezuela to keep an eye on. Nesi was linked to the Blue Jays last month.
