So the season's end is upon us, with only three remaining home games. Good thing we have stuff planned for all three!

With glaring sunlight in my eyes
I thought of all the times gone by
And laughed aloud at the crimson sky

Somehow I got stuck
Between the rock and the hard place
And I'm down on my luck
Now I'm hiding in Honduras
I'm a desperate man

The Blue Jays were already safely in Baltimore when Hurricane Jeanne struck Tampa, so both the Jays and Rays will finish 2004 one game short of the regular 162. In Toronto's case, that's good news and bad news. On the plus side, it's one less potential loss in this brutal campaign; on the other, it means there are no more head-to-head games with Tampa Bay, hamstringing the team's effort to escape 5th and last place in the American League East. Wow, that's a depressing thing to write.

Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn -
world serves its own needs, don't misserve your own needs. Feed it up a knock,
speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for
hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies
breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population,
common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its
own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the
reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
light, feeling pretty psyched.

There's too many of you crying
Brother, brother, brother
There's far too many of you dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today - Ya

With no Jays game today, I thought I'd start a playoff catch-all thread.

If anyone is interested in participating in a Japanese Baseball (NPB) fantasy or roto league for next season, post your contact details (i.e. name and e-mail) here. If there's enough interest, we'll set up a format in November/December and draft via e-mail after Christmas.

I'll check this thread again at the end of October. I'd say that eight people ought to be enough, if we get more than 10 or so we may need to go to two divisions (there's only 12 teams in NPB, soon to be 11!).
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

And look how far we’ve come
So far from where we used to be
But not so far that we’ve forgotten
How it was before

-- Neil Diamond, "September Morn"

That's right, it's that time again ... with absolutely no apologies whatsoever to Neil Diamond (after all, he never apologized for that "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" duet with Barbra Streisand) , we're pleased to introduce the Batter's Box All-September team …

I ... love ... Johan on the mound
Torii coverin' ground ... the Twins!
I ... love ... rookies like Morneau
The way Joe Nathan throws ... and ... and ... the ... Twins!

As you may have already heard, the Minnesota Twins (nee Washington Senators v.1.0) have clinched their third consecutive American League Central crown.

To honor the Twinkie threepeat (tm), the three propositions before you are thus:

1. The Minnesota Twins will/will not win the 2004 World Series.
2. The 2005 Toronto Blue Jays will/will not be better than the 2005 Minnesota Twins.
3. True or false -- Twins:Good :: Yankees: Evil? (define your terms)

Discuss. Best answer (defined as "whatever the hell I think is the best answer") to each question wins a prize.

Time after time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand
Kicked in my face
But I've come through
And I need to go on and on and on and on
