The mightly Photo of the Day magic worked for Aaron Hill last night, as he tripled and scored a run.  Today's feature subject is red-hot and doesn't necessarily need the help, unless it's help getting him onto the All-Star ballot.  Have you voted today?

And more to the point, have you voted for Alex Rios today?

So far, Upgraded Photo of the Day batters are hitting a combined .667 with two home runs, seven runs scored and seven runs batted in.  They've also drawn three walks, hit a triple and fired off a sacrifice fly.

Our sole UPOTD pitcher did not appear in a game on his featured day.

Very nice photo.

As for Rios and the All-Star game, well I don't mean to be the party pooper, but no way does Alex deserve it.  One good month doesn't make him better than Vlad or Sheff.  It's the all-star game, not the all-had-a-good-April game.  Alex isn't there (yet?)

But, erm, yes.  Very nice photo.  Is Alex Growing a playoff beard? Maybe he's an Oilers fan...

First of all, you're assuming that he'll win.  Second of all, doesn't matter if he doesn't yet have the career of Vlad or Shef -- he's very certainly off to a better start than Sheffield and to arguably as good a start as Vlad.  Last year don't count in the All-Star game, at least not to me.  I want to see someone who's playing great now.  If I wanted to see players who had great seasons a couple of years ago I could watch old highlights..

For the record: 1 for 4, with a run scored and a stolen base.
