I'm not around for the next three games of the homestand, so here's a thread for planning and meeting up.

In charge of tonight is the esteemed percussionist Bird Droppings. In charge of Saturday is everyone's favourite James Spader lookalike, Andrew Edwards. So far no one has stepped up to organize Sunday's events yet, so feel free to take on that responsibility if it suits you.

WOOOOO!!!! GO JAYS GO! GO JAYS GO!

Saturday's start is 1:05 pm.

As usual, we'll be in The Cheer Club Zone, section 518.

Maybe "The Extreme Cheer Club X-Zone" Yeah, that's the ticket. Very dynamic. [/marketing woman from the Simpsons].

I'll stand in front of Gate 6, looking like James Spader, until about 12:55, at which point I'll head up to 518. Meet me in either place. Get a look at me here. I'll also likely have pink flip flops, weather permitting, which are pretty distinctive at baseball games. COMN to email me if you want, and I'll even give you my cell number if you feel like you might have to call me to find us.

Bird Droppings, are you bringing the drum on Saturday?

I have no ability, either technical or creative, to make signs. NFH, any way to arrange for something?

All others, please feel free to make your own signs, preferrably funny and positive. How many of you are coming?
_Andrew Edwards - Friday, May 14 2004 @ 12:28 PM EDT (#65592) #
Oh, if for some lucky reason 518 is sold out, we'll fall back to 524.

If by the second or third inning you can't find us in 518, check 524 before giving up and settling in to watch the jays without the CHEER CLUB.

Droppings will be there tonight and Saturday. Dunno about Sunday.

I'm leaving from here (which is Oakville) at 4:00 today. If anyone can get down here I'll make a sign for them. Just let me know that you're coming (COMN).

There's no way I can get to Oakville today. Is there anyone out there who works near NFH and is coming Saturday?

If not, we'll just have to yell a lot louder.

I'm going to the game on Sat and I'm going with a bunch of Brazillian and Japanese college students.
I will try to get them in on the chants.

Wasn't in the cheer club because my friends wanted field level seats. We got second row down the first-base line. Looking up I could see the drum and the hammer. At times I could hear the drum (barely), others I couldn't. Maybe it needs to come down to field-level?

From I distance I saw this one dude carrying the hammer listening to headphones going towards the subway. Who was that?

Great game. I was really grumpy that it was only 2-0 and not 6-0 after three innings but I cheered up.

O-Dog is a star in the making and a fine leadoff man.

My biggest cheer of the night came when Howie Clark was pulled from the game. Damn: Howie was just an anchor on the bottom third of the order: what's he doing there?

Delgado was pressing. He was taking mighty, exaggerated cuts, trying to get two grand-slams on one swing. I'm sure he'll come around.

Remember: in baseball you never have your *entire* lineup hot at the same time.

TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT THAT SKYDOME EXPERIENCES THE BEAT OF A DIFFERENT DRUMMER!

Thump Thump. Thump Thump. Thump Thump.

I have wrote a poem for the occasion entitled "Red Sox Vs. The Drum."

Devised beats, a many are ready.
Our Cat and Dog will band together and fight the good fight.
Havoc and kaos will come to the players who dress in the socks that are red. Manny and his posse will come to fear the drum, Skydome they will dread.

Tonight, under the advice of Mr. Talent, I plan to start the game down in section 103. I know, I know... 518 is the place to be, but have you all not seen? The hoardes of lost people down at field level who are just dying for direction. If this proves to not be the case then i'll happily move back up the perch at 518 and start the crowds roar. So, for those of you who are going tonight... Section 103 it shall be... HOWEVER, if by five this afternoon, more then six people say they'll be up in 518... I'll go up there anyways just because you're all so kind hearted and remind me of my grandmother.

As for meeting me, just look for me in Section 103. I'll be the guy with the drum. I'm nice and I no longer bite so just say 'Yo! Batters Box!' and I will reply, 'Hey! How's it going? I'm Mike...' then I'll probably shake your hand, but if I don't, please don't be offended because I probably have mustard on it or something food related...

Finally, I have three simple rules to follow this evening...

1. High fives must be given all around when the Jays get a base hit or score.

2. Cheer loud, cheer proud.

3. Bring attractive, single girls.

Okay, that last rule isn't a rule but rather a suggestion.

Hope to see some faces tonight! Cheers! (HAHAHA, get it?)

Andrew, I followed your link and you mentioned something about taunting Jody Gerut. Are you the guy (or one of them) who's always chanting "Jooooooo Deeeeeeee"? The reason I ask is that a couple weeks ago I was near Boston and happened to be watching a Red Sox / Indians game. This was the one where Mueller had two throwing errors in one inning, which combined with a Derek Lowe meltdown led to a pile of runs. Anyway, at one point Gerut came up to bat and immediately I heard a voice in my head chanting "Joooooo Deeeeeee"!

I understand the desire to move the drum down there - it might be the right drum spot.

To keep turnout high, though, and to get Cheer Clubs at as many games as possible, I tend to prefer the cheaper seats.

On Saturday, I'll definitely lead the cheer club from 518. If you want to take the drum down to 103, we can do some call-and-response stuff across the stadium.

The unofficial Sort-Of-First Cheer Club Game Ever was the Will Carroll Pizza Feed game last year. We were sitting in right agaisnt the Indians, and had I think our whole section, and perhaps a few other sections, doing the Jooooo - DEEEEEEEEE.

The dude with the HAMMER walking towards the subway was me, Jobu, the man in possesion of THE HAMMER OF WISDOM.

Tonight was fantastic, post more on it later. Wont be there Saturday, i'll be there sunday with hammer if any care to join.

On drum location: maybe there should be more than one drum. Two or maybe 12 would be nice. Maybe every freakin' fan in the place could bang one. Wouldn't that be cool?
