The Associated Press is reporting that catcher Kevin Cash has been taken off the DL and put on the active roster. To make room for Cash, the Jays sent struggling reliever Aquilino Lopez to AAA Syracuse. The Jays currently have three catchers on the big league club, but the current roster will be subject to even more changes as space will need to be made when Delgado, Hudson, De Los Santos, et. al. come off of the DL.

Now that Cash is back, does that Zaun to Florida rumour pick up steam? Or will they wait for myers?

What is the infactuation with Dave Berg? Why does he ever need to start a game? Why won't Ricciardi get rid of him? Why oh why?

Sending down Lopez looks like a reasonable move as long as the starting rotation can come back to 5 genuine starters soon.

When exactly do players on the DL become available to come off it? Is it 15 days after they were placed on it (possibly retroactively), or 16?

If the former, by my calculations the earliest we could see returns would be

Hudson June 12
Halladay June 12
Delgado June 14
Miller June 16
DLS June 21

Of course they might not all be ready in time. Myers goodness knows when.

I hope and assume that Rios won't stay up too much longer; he's not fielding very well and looks overmatched when hitting and I think he needs more AAA time. I assume that Estalella will go down to make room for someone. From the hitting point of view, that would be enough moves, so the dreaded Berg can stay up.

When Halladay and Miller come up (if and when!) then presumably that's the end of Towers and File?

Andrew: 15-day DL is 15 days after the day after their last game played.
So you get hurt running the bases on June 10th, you go on the 15-day DL, you can come back June 26th.

As for the return dates: I think Hudson is past 15 days and can come back anytime now. Doc can (will?) come back Saturday. The other days look right.

Hopefully when more people get healthy Berg gets dumped.

Rios should be sent packing. He's been awful so far in the majors. I'm worried his confidence has been really shaken.

Is Estalella still on the roster? And if so, why do the Jays now have three catchers? Does this suggest they're not sure Cash is 100%?

I hope they send Rios back down as he's horribly over matched. But I want to see them do it after he pulls off a decent game. Let him have something good in his head as he takes the bus back down to Syracuse.

Sending Lopez down makes no sense whatsoever. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Etc. I hope there are further moves coming to clear it up, because right now this is a serious head-scratcher. There are four or five players I would have farmed out rather than Lopez.

I heard a quote from Tosca that Zaun is the Number 1 backstop right now... I don't get that either...

Tosca said that they are sending Aquilino down to work on his splitter, a pitch they are developing to get lefthanded hitters out. Tosca said that Lopez was overthrowing it - at 85 MPH instead of 81 MPH. At 85 it doesn't have a sharp drop and looks too much like a batting practice fastball.

Sending a pitcher to AAA with a specific assignment makes all the sense in the world to me.
