Merry Christmas, Bauxites!  The POTD on this Christmas Day looks back on J.P. Arencibia's first major league at-bat against the Tampa Bay Rays at the Dome August 7th.

J.P. Arencibia appears to be looking for a sign from third base coach Brian Butterfield but Butterfield's attention is elsewhere.

Arencibia digs in at the plate.

JaysVision displays Arencibia's impressive 2010 campaign with the Triple-A Las Vegas 51's.

Arencibia makes his way towards second base after sending the first pitch he sees from James Shields over the left field wall for a home run.

Arencibia is greeted by Butterfield after rounding third base while Travis Snider and Edwin Encarnacion wait for him at home plate.

Arencibia crosses home plate and is welcomed by Snider and Encarnacion.

Arencibia is congratulated by Encarnacion after completing his trot around the bases.

JaysVision highlights Arencibia's accomplishment.

Arencibia maintained a 1.000 batting average in his first four at-bats with two homers, a double, and a single before fouling out to right field in his last at-bat.  Not a bad day's work as Arencibia and the Jays enjoyed a 17-11 victory over the Rays!

Good memories #2 of one of the best days for a Blue Jay fan in 2010.

Merry Christmas to all Bauxites.

Boy, is that an ugly line by Shields!

We need to get JPA's adrenaline pumping more often in 2011 - he obviously plays better when he's nervous.

Merry christmas, christmikah, kwanza, and any other reason to celebrate the season to all of you.

That was indeed an impressive debut.  What was even more impressive were the pitches that he took out.  His first at bat was a two seem fastball that was running into his knees and was 4-6 inches off the plate when he made contact.  The next at bat the pitch was another fastball at the knees and on the outside corner that he took the other way for the dinger.  It's one thing for a rookie to come in and take a couple of no-respect meatballs over the fence, but those were nice pitches.

Despite the poor performance over sporatic use that followed, the nature of those debut home runs has me pretty pumped.  I think he is in an incredible athlete that will exceed his projection as a pro.  I'm bullish on a couple of all-star appearances in his future.

Merry Christmas, JPA and Merry Christmas, bauxites.  In honour of one of my favourite bauxites, I plan to get into a bit of 12 year-old Glenfiddich in a couple hours, but first a few MGD's.

That truly was an awesome game to go to as it was bombs away against Tampa Bay.  I had planned on going the Friday night but when I heard Arencibia was not going to play, I decided to wait for the Saturday game instead.  I did pretty well with the G-20 Ticket Vouchers as the Jays won all six games I used them for.  If only I were that lucky in the lottery.  I hope to get to more photos of the game that runs neck and neck with this one as far as the best one I saw live this season before the year is out.  Stay tuned!!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all. From JPA as a rookie I expect a significant statement when ever the man in front of him is walked in anticipation of the easy out.
