The Buffalo game was tied through nine innings. The pitchers on both sides had done well on a cold day in Pennsylvania. With two on and two outs in the top of the tenth, Wynton Bernard doubled to the wall to drive in two runs and lead the Bisons to a 3-2 win.

Buffalo 3 Scranton 2 - 10 innings

This is what I noted from today's game.

Bowden Francis pitched well, seven K's in four shutout innings. It will be interesting to see how the "next starter available" stakes work their way through the season. With Zulueta yet to start (he will start on Tuesday), my order is Francis, Lawrence, Thompson, Hatch.

The Bisons used seven pitchers. Nate Pearson threw another inning.

Bernard drove in all three Buffalo runs with two hits. Davis Schneider and Addison Barger also were in the two hit club.

Can't see Hatch as a spot starter for the Jays. Got the save today and looks to be a RP.

Francis has looked really good now for some time.

We don't know the fifth starter yet. The fifth starter spot doesn't come up until next Sunday so it could be someone who is relieving to get some inning in, like Hatch. The only two pitchers on the roster who have yet to pitch are Zulueta, who starts Tuesday, and Jay Jackson. I doubt if Jackson will start so starter number five is someone who has already pitched in relief.

NH and Dunedin start their season Thursday 6th. Vancouver Friday 7th. We may get to know the rosters tomorrow.

I think many of us can figure out where a lot of the players will be assigned. Surprises are expected like Cam Eden to AAA.

No Buffalo season opener today. Their tarp was destroyed by a storm over the weekend and the field is saturated.

Vancouver have a game tomorrow versus UBC. Our own #2JBrumfield should be there and he will give us some scoop about which players are there.

No Buffalo baseball again today. The forecast through the weekend after today looks good.

Thanks for your effort Jonny German.

As Opening day landing spots my evaluation was that you were aggressive in your assignments. I sort of expect you to be right on many. A sample size of April and May seems long enough to make some sort of judgement if the playing time matches. My thinking is conservative because I feared early struggles.

I expect Will Robertson and Z Britton in the NH OF to start. LH power.

I agree with your SP assignments. I hope NH's rotation is dominant. Tiedemann and Robberse. I also like Kloffenstein and Quinones.

B Barriera in the FSL would be great if it happened.

Vancouver has released their roster. Johnny G got it right other than Van Eyk.

New Hampshire roster is out too. No Tiedemann yet.

Jonny got one other one wrong, Rainer Nunez is still with Vancouver.

Adrian Hernandez is back in AA.

Tucker Toman starts in Dunedin, he could have stayed at the complex.

A couple of Quebecers make the Dunedin roster, Nicolas Deschamps and JC Masson.

No Barriera or Irv Carter. Barreira must be starting in the complex league. Carter made it to Dunedin last season so he is likely injured.

The Canadians roster is loaded- Dasan Brown, Gabriel Martinez and Alan Roden in the outfield with Devonte Brown as the 4th, Andres Sosa behind the plate, Nunez, Doughty, Kasevich, Alex DeJesus as the infield with Estiven Machado as the 5th.  They're starting Adam Macko in Vancouver; I guess it's appropriate to have the two Canadians starting off the season in Vancouver.  I wonder how many make it to New Hampshire in May; I'd venture a guess that the Canadians would defeat the Fisher Cats if they played a 7 game series.

Canadians roster has 25 returnees on it, the main change is adding four draftees from 2022, Doughty, Kasevich, Roden, and Brown.

Gerry, where do you see the Dunedin roster?

I seem to remember reading somewhere around a week ago that Tiedemann would miss week one of the season and then join the Fisher Cats and pitch once a week.

New Hampshire...22 of the 28 players played for New Hampshire last season. The main additions are in the infield with Leo Jimenez, Palmegiani, Hiraldo and PK Morris debuting.

I learned from the Vancouver Province via CsPlusBaseball that the Vancouver Canadians were just sold to American owners who own 16 other minor league franchises all across the US.

I am looking forward to little known prospects surprising us. As well as any prospects dominating.

In Dunedin most position players are 20 or younger. Peyton Willians should get off to a great start. I suppose when Rainer Nunez is promoted Williams will move up. AB shortage.

Estiven Machado has a lot of competition at Vancouver. He kept improving in Dunedin as the season progressed. He is the youngest position player in Vancouver.
Gerry - Thursday, April 06 2023 @ 11:48 AM EDT (#427407) #
Sem Robberse gets the ball for New Hampshire tonight.

Rafael Sanchez, a 23 year old Cuban, starts for Dunedin.
