1. RJ Schreck, Buffalo

2. Riley Tirotta, Buffalo

3. Yohendrick Piñango, Buffalo

Notes

RJ Schreck homered and doubled and Yohendrick Piñango and Riley Tirotta also went deep for the Herd. Schreck and Tirotta had two-hit nights and Josh Kasevich singled and walked. Austin Voth went the first four innings and gave up a run on five hits with a 3-0 K/BB total. Michael Plassmeyer stranded two runners in the seventh by retiring the only two hitters he faced to get the win. Hayden Juenger worked around two hits and struck out one for the two-inning save.

Aldo Gaxiola, Blaine Bullard, JoJo Parker all went yard Adrian Pinto for the D-Jays. Brayden Heidl lasted just 2⅔ innings and gave up three runs on four hits and two walks with two whiffs to take the loss. Lluveres Severino was the only Dunedin pitcher not to give up a run as he offset a walk with two punchouts in the ninth.

Kendry Chirinos belted his first Northwest League home run and joined Maddox Latta in the two-hit club. Latta is hitting .304 in the early going. Everyone had a hit except for Arjun Nimmala who reached base on a walk but is hitting .172. Austin Cates was an out shy of five innings and struck out 10 against one walk but the two runs he allowed resulted in getting the loss. Juanmi Vasquez stranded the bases loaded for Cates but gave up a three-run homer. Kelena Sauer put up two goose eggs and a strikeout and worked around three hits.

Would be really great if Schreck could get going as he would give team another option instead of Lukes. He has a .171 BABIP so I assume he will start to improve. Pinango is hitting but he can't really field so he's more of an option to replace Eloy but with Springer back before too long, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

yeah current year numbers just mean so little at this point.

Schreck will come around. 19.7 BB% to to 11.5 K% with the 2nd best xwOBA on the team. And another HR today. Seems to be getting a lot of run in CF with Clase out.

Speaking of HRs...New Hampshire wins 20-1 in Game 1 (7 innings). Bohrofen with 2 HR, Keys with another.

Parker with a really exciting start in Dunedin. All the statcast data looks great - he needs to be a bit more aggressive with pitches in the zone. The underlying data looks great for Gaxiola too. Bonilla is swinging at everything still. Licourt needs a promotion.

I'd argue that Schreck has already come all the way around:

Last 10gms: 37pa, 155wrc+

and that's before the homerun today.

Sample sizes at this point are just way too small to care about any stats so far tbh.

Speaking of former Blue Jays prospects, Austin Martin is off to a good start this year: .314/.510/.457, 12:7 BB:K ratio, .143 ISO (after today's home run). Slightly high BABIP of .370. He was decent last year in 50 games at age 26 (after a rough debut in 2024).

Maybe he's coming into his own in 2026.

Schreck is interesting, because despite his profile as power-oriented, he doesn't hit the ball that hard. EVs aren't everything, but he's not a speedster, and his 84.5 average would be 9th percentile in the majors; it was a little higher last year, but still mediocre. But he tends to get the ball in the air really well, so he's made the most of his contact. I'm not sure if there's a great analogy in the majors.

New Hampshire with 30 runs over just 12 innings at the plate today in a doubleheader. The team has a +35 run differential over 10 games, but is just 6-4.

Lots of great performances obviously, but Sean Keys stood out with a 6/9 performance with two homers and two doubles.

i like that micheletti is off to a good start after a good close to last year. i think he might be something.

at 24, tho, he could easily be up a level by now. Goodwin also in that category.

Keys and Bohrofen at 23 could easily be a level higher too, but not as much of a rush for them.
