Buffalo won both ends of a doubleheader. New Hampshire and Dunedin lost, Vancouver were rained out. The affiliates had a strong start to the season and the first week or so produced excellent results. However the three lower teams have fallen off and have lost their winning records. Buffalo, despite losing some pitching to the big club and the IL, and despite Alek Manoah not helping, do have a winning record and are hanging in well. Spencer Horwitz and Orelvis are leading the way and Orelvis did hit his seventh home run. However its not all smooth sailing for him as discussed below.

TINSTAPP. (There is no such thing as a pitching prospect)

The Jays have a number of pitching prospects but there is a cloud over pitching development this week. Ricky Tiedemann hit the IL this week. Brandon Barriera went on it less than two week ago. One of the biggest risers in the prospect lists this season has been Landen Maroudis. He left his start yesterday with an undisclosed injury. Kendry Rojas pitched April 10th and hasn't been seen since. Last years up and comer Nolan Perry is on the IL. Dahian Santos is on the 60 day IL. We don't know how serious are many of these injuries, if the Jays are lucky they will be short term absences, or it could be a disaster.

On the field Buffalo bashed, but New Hampshire, Vancouver and Dunedin didn't.

The affiliates bounced back after lots of losing on Saturday, in fact it was a Sunday sweep. Buffalo scored 17, New Hampshire 13, Dunedin 11 and Vancouver 8. It's just a few weeks but its nice to see some offense after a couple of seasons without much on that side of the ball. Some guys who have been hot stayed hot, Alan Roden went deep twice, Ryan McCarty drove in five and Spencer Horwitz and Will Robertson reached base five times.
