I stopped buying USA Today's Sports Weekly when it became a football publication. I miss reading the old Baseball Weekly, but still visit the Web site. Fantasy guru John Hunt has published his best guesses for AL regulars, complete with batting orders. He loves your Toronto Blue Jays:

It probably won't take long for the Jays to drop Hinske down to the sixth spot and put Catalanotto at No. 2, but the Jays were clicking with Hinske in that second spot last year. No matter where Hinske ends up, this could be the best lineup in the league, and you should bid accordingly.

On a college hoops weekend, this is mainly for those who are still drafting, but I'm curious -- among the many Internet sites featuring depth charts and lineups, which are the best? Hunt makes some guesses I don't agree with, and misses some injuries; Dan Wilson won't be the M's #1 C for a while, and I suspect Greg Vaughn's going to be released. ESPN disappoints, as it's not updated often enough to reflect last-minute changes, and often has stale -- Dewayne Wise? -- info. Roto Times isn't bad, but I've yet to locate the definitive (free) source. Any suggestions?

I've been looking for the same thing, Coach, and had no real success so far. I'll let you know if I do...but this *is* a reciprocal agreement, no? :)

Well I like rototimes.com myself, I think they do a very good job on their free service. I particularly enjoy the "boxscore" e-mail I get every day with my players' performances, it makes checking each boxscore unnecessary.

CBS Sportsline does a pretty good job with depth charts and projected lineups. Here's an example.

Speaking of papers, there was a brief mention of Doug Linton in today's Rochester D&C:

"Rochester resident Doug Linton, the veteran pitcher who performed so well for the Richmond Braves last season after Baltimore decided he couldn’t help the Red Wings, is likely to begin this season in the bullpen for the Toronto Blue Jays."

Mind you, Bob Matthews goes on in the article to insult Canada, so I'd stay away from the paper.

Take a look at theinsidepitch.com

He has the full 40 man roster, plus the NRI's and who he thinks will be on the 25 man roster.

Thanks, Mike J, there's some very nice stuff at Inside Pitch.

Impressive game by the Jays this afternoon. Three big HR by regulars. Lidle was great, 42 strikes in 62 pitches, Jeff Tam got the W, and Justin Miller pitched two perfect innings to earn the save.

Phelps hit a homerun over the scoreboard in left-center.

Catalanatto felt fine and was just a little behind some pitches. He's 2 for 3 with 2 walks since returning to the lineup yesterday.

Corey Thurman was sent to AAA and Trevor Miller won the second lefty job with Tim Young sent to minor league camp.

Gabe Gross had an opposite field single in this game.

Delgado hopes to play Monday or Tuesday as he still rests his knee.

Does anyone know who P Chiaffredo is? He pinch hit for Myers. I've never heard of him before.

Paul Chiaffredo is AA catcher.

I'm wondering if he was called up for the day or if it is a mistake.

Chiaffredo got a little action a week ago or so during one of the Sportsnet telecasts; his role is pretty much the same as Shawn Fagan's.

Inside Pitch rocks! Daniel Williams (no relation) already had Greg Vaughn anchored to the D-Rays bench prior to his release, and after learning a moment ago from Roto Times that Grieve would DH and Damian Rolls will play RF, I went back -- Dan's already updated his Tampa lineup. Very impressive; that link will be added to the sidebar next time I get a chance to update the site.
