There was some decent pitching for the minor league affiliates on Sunday. Ryan Tepera (AA), Jesse Hernandez (A+) and Taylor Cole (SS) combined to allow just two hits in 14.1 combined innings of work.
A 2-5 Saturday for the affiliates with four games involving nine runs as the winning total. Three of the games ended 9-3 and that's where you will find the two wins. Turn me on, dead man!
Las Vegas continued their run at
Sacramento and Lansing, Vancouver, Bluefield and the DSL Blue Jays put W’s on
the Board as well.
Due to lack of time, this will be the travel size version sans all bells and whistles.
Some nights you really have to scour the boxscores to find performances worthy of being awarded a star for the evening and other nights you can find more than enough contenders without trying. Last night was one of the latter, with three strong pitching performances, some nice offensive lines in Lansing, a display of power by Dwight Smith Jr. and a standout line in an All-Star Game.
All-Star Tuesday was a day off for everybody in the system, except for the boys in the Gulf Coast and Dominican Summer Leagues.

There were five wins on the farm yesterday with the losses coming at the ends, in Las Vegas and in the Gulf Coast League. However, the one star earned by a pitcher came in one of those two losses. New Hampshire won a walk-off game despite allowing two runs in the top of the 11th and Lansing had a big bottom of the eighth inning for a late come-from-behind victory.
The affiliates were 6-1 Tuesday night with the only blemishes being a rainout and a come from ahead loss.
The shortstops at the top two levels in the Blue Jays system had good nights with their bats but only one of them enjoyed a victory on Monday. Two affiliates blew huge leads, two lost in extra innings and there were two blowouts. Another game boiled down to a play at the plate in a 2-6 Monday on the farm.
The right-hander prospect lowered his ERA to 0.63 in 16 appearances and showed improved control in his start against Arizona's A-ball squad.
Victories were posted in the states of Nevada and Florida in a 3-4 night for the affiliates that included a rainout north of the border.
