Circle Thursday, April 5 on the calendar.  That's the day the Blue Jays break out their new uniforms as they begin their 2012 season on the road against the Cleveland Indians.  The home opener is Monday, April 9 against the Boston Red Sox.

The Jays hope to enjoy more walk-off wins in 2012 like this one against the Baltimore Orioles September 10.

Okay, so it's not really "breaking news" of massive import, but it's fun to keep track ...

Yesterday, stalwart St. Louis Cardinals 1B Albert Pujols passed noted all-or-nothing journeyman slugger Dave Kingman into 37th place on the all-time home run list by hitting his 443rd.

So, does Albert have another 320 or so bullets left in that gun-like bat of his? Where does he end up on the all-time list?

The Jays take on Tampa Bay for a rare Friday to Monday, four game series. This series will survive hurricane Irene while other east coast series are being rearranged to avoid hurricane-outs.

DeWayne Wise has been claimed by the Jays on waivers to fill the CF hole. Colby Rasmus will go on the DL tomorrow. I guess Wise rated higher than Darin Mastroianni who has been left to his major league memories in Las Vegas. But seriously bball12 might have a point here, why didn't the Jays recall Mastro? It is not a vote of confidence in Mastro.

John Farrell is on the one day DL, he has been diagnosed with pneumonia. Under doctors orders Farrell will miss today's game and will probably be back tomorrow, but like all of us, he is day-to-day. Don Wakamatsu is in charge tonight.

A few days ago Farrell thought this team could win 88 games, I hope that doesn't mean the Jays play all the veterans in September to pad the team's record.

Jim Thome is the Cleveland Indians' all-time career home run leader with 334.

Now, Thome has been traded, via waiver claim for a PTBNL, to ... the Cleveland Indians!

Maybe the latest 600-homer guy can bring his career full-ciricle now and retire with the Tribe ... in the playoffs?

Brett Lawrie has been called up by the Jays.

Travis Snider is headed back to Las Vegas.

Carlos Villanueva is headed to the DL.

Luis Perez is recalled but will pitch out of the bullpen.

Saturday began quietly, but ended with a flurry of deals, including Ubaldo Jimenez. Here’s the place to discuss yesterday’s trades and any deals consummated today.

So I wore my Cleveland Indians necktie to work today. Think it choked a little bit?

Ervin "Not Johan" Santana no-hit the Tribe, 3-1 today. Your thoughts, comments, observations?

The Jays are dominating Twitter today.  The Ubaldo Jimenez rumours are still out there but the Jays appear to be focused elsewhere.  Today the hot topic is that Edwin Jackson and Mark Teahen may be Toronto bound in return for Jason Frasor, a Chicago native, and one or more prospects.

The next rumour is that the Jays will flip Jackson to St Louis for Colby Rasmus, the under-achieving, Tony La Russa doghouse inhabiting, gifted centre fielder.  Is that a straight up deal?  Who knows.

And lost in all the twittering is that the Jays have reportedly signed a bunch of draft picks.
