I can't imagine too much has changed with the Astros since we last saw them. It was just last week, after all.
There has been a lot of ink written about Vosver Zulueta and there is a lot of anticipation around his arrival. That's a lot for a pitcher who had thrown three pitches in his pro career before Thursday. In case you forgot, Zulueta is Cuban, signed with the Jays in 2019 but then needed TJ surgery. Upon his return he tore his ACL after the aforementioned three pitches and missed the rest of 2021. He returned to live action yesterday and struck out seven in four innings. Another debutant was Dexter Fowler who had three hits for Buffalo.
Buffalo were the only winners on Thursday. Vancouver and Dunedin both lost in extra innings.
Buffalo and New Hampshire split their doubleheaders. Vancouver and Dunedin lost.
Vancouver won and Dunedin lost Tuesday. Buffalo's game in Worcester and New Hampshire's game against Reading were both postponed. They will play two today.
That was a fine road trip, but there's no rest for the wicked or the Blue Jays. A ten game homestand kicks off tonight.
In a recent thread I dug into the fun way Collins (and Hernandez) ended up here - started with a 15th round pick in 2009. But what about the rest of the roster? We always talk about how important the draft is but how did we get this lineup?
Hits were hard to come by on Sunday. The four affiliates recorded four, four, six and five hits. That's just 19 hits combined over four teams. Despite the low number of hits Buffalo and Dunedin won. Thomas Hatch was the star for Buffalo while Dunedin had a walk off.

The starting pitching wasn't good on Saturday. Nick Allgeyer, Maximo Castillo and Adam Kloffenstein were all hit around. New Hampshire were the only team to win thanks to five hitters going deep.

There were a couple of exciting finishes on Friday. Gabriel Martinez walked it off for Dunedin. New Hampshire came into the ninth down by five. They scored three without a hit, then got a hit which both made it a one run game and ended the game...ouch! Buffalo won while Vancouver won two.
The road trip concludes, deep in the heart of Texas, where things seem to have been getting weird lately. Everything's bigger in Texas, even the crazy.
Two wins and two loses on Thursday. New Hampshire had both losses while Buffalo and Dunedin won. Vancouver were rained out. Bowden Francis shut down Scranton for 6.2 innings before running into a bit of trouble. Gabriel Martinez hit his first home run for Dunedin.

Buffalo swept a doubleheader while New Hampshire pulled out an extra-inning win. Dunedin took the only loss Wednesday. Vancouver's game against Eugene was rained out. They will play two at Nat Bailey Stadium Friday afternoon.
An 0-2 night for the affiliates Tuesday. Buffalo's game against Scranton-Wilkes/Barre and New Hampshire's game in Altoona were postponed. Buffalo will play two on Wednesday and New Hampshire will do likewise on Thursday.
The road trip continues, for real this time. The week begins with three games at damp, ancient Fenway Park.
Two wins and three losses on Sunday. Maximo Castillo was outstanding in his start. We have to ask if we are seeing a different Maximo? Zac Cook helped Maximo get the win. Riley Tirotta and Addison Barger powered Vancouver to their win. Rainer Nunez went deep twice in a losing cause.
