As we head into the playoffs as the Eastern Division Champions (best record in the AL for the first time since 1993) just what have the Jays used in the past and what should we expect this time?  How does the current lineup stack up to ones of past playoff teams here?

I've been on the road.

Given we are now into September, the potential playoff roster options are set - if you weren't in the system on the night of August 31st to September 1st you can't play with the Jays in the post-season. So IKF qualifies (barely), but Buddy Kennedy (re-acquired September 1st) doesn't.

So that was a fun day.  Let's go over what happened.  Also to avoid the new game thread getting full of trade review this gives us a new area to do it in.

So as we head into trading season the question that comes up is what did the Jays do in other years when they contended? What did they give up, what did they get back? Did it work?

As many of you have read elsewhere, Vlad has signed a 14 year $500 million deal to be here for his career (covers to age 40).

Spring training is over and the Jays had the best record in the Florida side of spring training, so playoffs are guaranteed, right?

Obviously a big concern in MLB (especially with guys like Cole going down) is how many starters do you need if you are to contend in 2025? 5? 6? 16? Hard to say. Also how badly does the quality drop after the first 5? Let's do some digging.
